origin/habitat
The Spectacled Owl got its name from its identifying facial marks that resemble spectacles. The Spectacled Owl is a tropical bird found in Mexico, Central America, Trinidad and Tobago and the northern two-thirds of South America. They are resident owl's and are not known to make any large movements.
Spectacled Owl's are generally nocturnal and roost singly during the day in trees with dense foliage along a stream. They are typically found in dense tropical forests with large, mature trees. However, they are also found in dry forest, treed savannah habitat, plantations, and open areas with scattered trees. They require a sizeable wooded area for nesting and roosting. They often hunt along forest edges and clearings or adjacent a semi open savanna with large trees, but they can be found hunting in canopies.

A cladogram shows a species history and how its relation to other animals. This cladogram doesn't show the Spectacled Owl but it does show a Snowy Owl which can represent the Spectacled Owl because this cladogram is fairly broad.
As the cladogram shows, birds branch away from the mammals right away, on this cladogram it is due to lungs. Birds' respiratory organs are air sacs while mammals' respiratory organs are lungs. Going on up to the right things like solid bones, pointed ears and long tail seperate the mammals.
Although the cladogram branching to the left does not show the traits that seperate these birds, the spacing between the branching points demonstrate how related the birds are to each other. For example, the Snowy Owl is more closely related to the Bald Eagle than it is to the Golden Eagle.
